Newly appointed sheriff Pat Garrett is pleased when his old friend Doc Holliday arrives in Lincoln, New Mexico on the stage. Doc is trailing his stolen horse, and it is discovered in the possession of Billy the Kid. In a surprising turnaround, Billy and Doc become friends. One of the weirdest westerns of all time, reflecting the eccentricities of its producer and credited director, Howard Hughes.

One of the most erotic films ever made and one of the most sensational scripts ever filmed by Hollywood.

RTMotion Picture Herald (Exhibitors Herald)Dec 9, 2021

It is full of unintentional laughs, dialogue which is frequently outlandish and appallingly bad and because it is loaded with comedy situations which might have been funny on paper, but are not on film.

Howard Hughes is deserving of a full measure of praise for his dual enactment of the roles of producer-director.
