"No land on Earth possesses more wonder than Egypt," narrator Omar Sharif notes in "Mysteries of Egypt." And the film certainly plays up some of those wonders. But what the movie lacks is the excitement and splendor of previous Omnimax films.

It's a visually appealing but basic introduction to ancient Egyptian culture.

What else would you expect from National Geographic but a rich tapestry of history that's unfolded right before your eyes?
