Kummatty

Kummatty isn’t so definitive as Aesop’s Fables. Like its titular character, it comes, casts its spell, and goes, leaving you enchanted and wondering.

Note how Kummatty, made decades ago, had none of the special effects to decorate its mythological drama. Yet, Aravindan works with an aesthetic choice that allows his viewers, children as well as adults, to partake into the suspension of disbelief.

Govindan Aravindans KUMMATTY is one of the most visually beautiful and impressive films I have ever seen. A very small story, but an incredibly magical and poetic cinematic language.
