McQ is like a dull fifties movie.

There are killings aplenty fore and aft, car chases galore, lots of non-actors to match Wayne; lots of actors to be wasted... lots of flashy photography of Seattle to glaze the eye, and marble-mouthed dialogue to stultify the brain.

...a decent ’70s thriller that probably should’ve topped out at about an hour and a half.

John Wayne, at 65, is nothing less than a national monument. And he deserves better upkeep and attention than his latest film, McQ, provides.
