“Shinjuku Swan” is a great manga adaptation, with all the pros and cons included in the category being quite evident. It is definitely very entertaining though.

The likeability of Gou Ayano as Tatsuhiko and the surprisingly dense narrative ensures that Sion Sono's 'Shinjuku Swan' is better than your average manga-adaptation.

Though the film failed to pull me in it was technically accomplished. The fight scenes are fun and peppy and each of the gangsters toe the line between intimidating and cartoonish.
