Excursion

impressed with Gunjak’s careful maneuvering of the nuances of teenage sexuality and sociality.

Despite its promising premise, the film largely feels like a missed opportunity to explore themes of impulsive teenage angst with the depth and nuance it deserves.

...Parents complain, administration behaves fearfully, students bully—all typical for our times, but the stakes never feel high enough, so I never felt fully engaged.

Excursion is especially strong when it comes to dramatising the social and emotional dynamics between those caught in the tricky middle-ground between girlhood and maturity.
