A tough, tight, tense, tricky little melodrama.

The screenplay... is punchy and efficient, leaping from one highlight to another—a prison break dissolves directly to a bank robbery—and the direction by Max Nosseck is equally to the point, never letting the budgetary constraints get in the way.

A powerful, bleak B-level biopic of the legendary gangster made just a decade after his death.

This 70-minute classic from Monogram Studios is the epitome of what they call "lean and mean."
