Critics consensus

“3 Hearts skips a few narrative beats, but this thoroughly French romance is brought to life by the full-blooded performances of a first-rate cast.”

It leaves behind a nagging feeling, a suggestion there's more to the story than its story.

Despite a slow start and jarring narration, "3 Hearts" entertains with its melodramatic amour fou.

RTWashington PostApr 9, 2015

A tasteful, mildly intriguing romantic drama from writer-director Benot Jacquot.

N

Nicholas Bell

RTIONCINEMA.comOct 21, 2020

A melodrama of a love made impossible by conscious choices, Jacquot's latest exists in a familiar vein of vintage offerings, enhanced by a first rate cast in another of the director's exercises in repression and its consequences.
