Storyline

Created by the members of a Nairobi-based arts collective — who have removed their names from the film for fear of reprisal — this anthology film that dramatizes true-life stories from Kenya’s oppressed LGBTQ community is both a labour of love and a bold act of militancy.

This is a beautiful little film about love, about humanity, about one of the many facets of what it means to be African.

Stephen Dalton

RTThe Hollywood ReporterMay 14, 2019

The film has a luminous monochrome look and slickly edited polish that defies its minimal $15,000 budget.

Craig Takeuchi

RTGeorgia StraightMay 14, 2019

With an artful and intimate touch, director Jim Chuchu beautifully gives voice to the lives of gay and lesbian Kenyans in this omnibus film, shot in black-and-white.

Danielle Davenport

RTOne Room With A ViewMay 14, 2019

This well-judged, vivid and triumphantly beautiful film packs unbelievable power into 60 minutes.
