Corner Gas: The Movie

You can practically hear it groaning as it stretches the half-hour sitcom format to 90-plus minutes ...

In truth, it often plays like a few TV episodes stitched together into 96 minutes, which doesn't work especially well on a big screen. But I have a feeling this won't matter to fans of the show who are dealing with Dog River withdrawal.

Cutting edge it's not, but there is something to be said for a comedy that focuses on Canadianisms like charging 5 for a plastic shopping bag. It's a warm hug from the Prairies and a thank you to the fans that stood by the show.

It is about as good and authentic and funny as we could expect of a movie based on a TV series about almost nothing.
