Citizen Marc

[A] vexingly fascinating non-fiction biopic about jailed pot activist Marc Emery ...

Citizen Marc shows us that it's not the citizens themselves, but their movement that is being hijacked by Emery's ego (which, one of his detractors observes, 'is 40% of his body weight').

Citizen Marc is indeed an interesting documentary, but its central subject is at times so insufferable and so self-centered that the film itself is a tough watch as you feel guilty feeding into his ego.

It's a good toothy edge that makes Citizen Marc an interesting film because it chips away at the concept of personal identity versus the unrelenting demands of a dollar store ego.
