The Big Parade

The Big Parade wasn't just an international hit; it immediately set the standard for Hollywood war movies.

This swings easily between comedy, romance, and tragedy without missing a beat, and there are numerous set-pieces of enormous power -- even today, the harrowing battle scenes would rank among the best ever put on film.

A war picture so powerful, so well-balanced, so true to reality, or so lacking in exaggeration as The Big Parade... has not previously been shown in Auckland.

The Big Parade is a marvelous picture, a picture that can be ranked among the few genuinely great achievements of the screen.
