R

Richard Brody

RTThe New YorkerNov 28, 2016

Avoiding history and politics, Tourneur serves up, in a dreamlike Technicolor glow, a pastoral film noir.

M

Matt Brunson

RTFilm FrenzyMar 29, 2020

A sturdy Western in which, for once, the story is more sprawling than the scenery.

J

Josephine O'Neill

RTDaily Telegraph (Australia)Apr 9, 2019

Only a rambling script, which settles down to a jog-trot through magnificent Technicolor backgrounds of Oregon lake and timber, prevents it from being a film of this or any other week.

E

Emanuel Levy

Lavishly mounted Western by Jacques Tourneur, better known for his noir films
