As a cinematic diatribe set in a stark moral universe, "Goldstone" comes in loud and clear.

Ultimately, though set in the remote Australian bush, "Goldstone" is grounded in the vivid familiarity of the here and now.

Goldstone is our next great Western. That may sound like an oxymoron given that the film takes place in Australia, but it's a paragon of a genre that has increasingly questioned history's displacement of indigenous people.

Goldstone's scattershot themes are too unfocused and its characters too underdeveloped to hit home.
