Storyline

The most turbulent five years in the life of a genius woman: Between 1905, where Maria Skłodowska-Curie comes with Pierre Curie to Stockholm to be awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the radioactivity, and 1911, where she receives her second Nobel Prize, after challenging France's male-dominated academic establishment both as a scientist and a woman.

Critics consensus

“Marie Curie: The Courage of Knowledge may test the patience of some viewers with its deliberate pacing, but this sensitively made biopic has its well-acted rewards.”

Noëlle has a dreamy visual style that pulls us into Marie's emotional reality, and we find ourselves captivated by this fascinating, pioneering woman.

... biopic of a French icon that's beautifully photographed, sensitively acted and punishingly dull.

RTEmpire MagazineNov 27, 2017

A fascinating life is reduced to a series of skittishly edited and visually stylised vignettes that do scant justice to Marie Curie's scientific achievements and Karolina Gruszka's laudably intense performance.

Being Polish and a woman, Marie perseveres against all obstacles in the male-dominated French scientific establishment.
