One Night Only

But what really makes One Night Only work is the chemistry between Kwok and Yang, because, despite the gangsters and guns and the prostitute-with-a-heart-of-gold cliche, it's a surprisingly effective and moving love story.

Though frustratingly let down, for this reviewer at least, by a bungled and melodramatic conclusion, it's a film with plenty to enjoy

[The film] hardly gives the audience a comforting closure ... but it's in the film's tragic ending that One Night Only reminds us that, in real life, couples don't always end up happily ever after.

One Night Only rarely bores - although it's also peppered with enough artificial plot turns and revelations to keep you from truly feeling for the protagonists.
