Storyline

Fiction and documentary mingle in a freewheeling portrait of Susan Superstar, a New York celebrity on a drug-fueled downward slide that mirrors Edie Sedgwick’s own self-destructive spiral.

Two attempts at a movie spliced uneasily into one.

At bottom Ciao! Manhattan is cruel exploitation -- though the film is dedicated to Miss Sedgwick's memory, an ultimate indignity.

RTThe New York Review of BooksApr 4, 2018

Alternately garrulous, sparse, nave, sardonic, clumsy, clever, intolerably sad, rawly funny.
