Romance on the High Seas might not be in the top tier of Michael Curtiz classics but the film is worth checking out for Doris Day's perfrmance.

An easy-going crowd pleaser, and it's easy to see why Day became such a huge star - her effervescent, folksy charm feels almost effortless.

It may not be as celebrated a film debut as those by Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins or Lauren Bacall in To Have and Have Not, but Doris Day certainly grabbed everyone's attention when she premiered with a peppy performance in this effervescent comedy.

Ditected by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca), this musical marks the feature debut of Doris Day, and its best part are the songs, including the Oscar-nominated tune, It's Magic.
