A completely unheralded classic of bleak 1970s horror cinema.

[I]t takes the old-school position of books like 'Lord of the Flies' (1954) that kids, especially in groups, are little savages who, without adult guidance / supervision, will do whatever it takes to get what they want, from lying to murder.

Unapologetic downbeat horror story.
