Run Lola Run meets Gran Torino; breathtakingly fast-moving, a very well-made thriller.

[Bryan] Brown uses his capacity for stillness with great effect, to suggest weight in his character.

It holds a mirror up to contemporary Australian society and offers those unfamiliar with its tensions a relatively factual dramatic experience.

Australia Day doesn't feel like it's a film that's actually got anything constructive to say. It wants to present a broken society by holding a mirror up to what's going on, ... but the mirror is shattered.
