Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits

A well-intentioned but baggy, unfocused and unsatisfying documentary about punk legends the Slits, which feels like an assemblage of footage that could have been shaped in a clearer and more interesting way.

There are some engaging talking heads... But although the Slits may well have set "a new paradigm for females", hearing about it eventually becomes as boring as the Pistols and the Clash banging on about how empowering punk was.

Tribute finally paid to our nasty foremothers.

Driven by its own punk-aesthetic - bold intertitles, archive celluloid, and so on - Badgley's film is a celebration of the band and their achievements.
