The jungle scenes, shot in Queensland, are well staged and genuinely suspenseful and McConville's performance is impressive. The film was clearly made on a modest budget, and, taking that into account, it is pretty impressive.

It's not the script which provides the film's punch. That comes from Josh McConville's embodiment of an Australian army officer who has returned from a mission to Myanmar suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome.

A credible and interesting film with compelling ideas.

Escape And Evasion is one of the cinematic shining lights of this year. An intense and dramatic film – it is one of those movies you will find wanting to watch two or three times to really embrace it.
