The film's flaw is that it's trying to say too much and doing so at such a painful pace that much of a good intention is lost in execution.

In the film the issue feels too flat and tame. Somewhere Motwane gets too self-aware and conscious-be it the genre of superhero cinema he is playing with or the issue of corruption itself. The point gets belaboured and the film too protracted.

Thrillingly staged, effortlessly relatable and endearingly sincere, Bhavesh Joshi remains one of Hindi cinema's most unfairly overlooked recent gems.

An atmospheric, dark and grounded film that could perhaps be told at a slightly faster and more powerful pace, but still uses its superhero approach freshly enough to shed some light on real-life grievances.
