"Avengement" is Adkins-Johnson's best film yet: a clever reinvention of their formula, which puts all the usual bone-crunching into a more mythic context.

If you like watching an endless string of prison brawls and pub fights connected by the thinnest of narrative threads, then you'll be in heaven.

Portraying his most complex character to date, Adkins delivers a ferocious turn that proves visceral in its emotional as well as physical intensity.

This is a gritty, mean, down and dirty crime story about gritty, mean, down and dirty criminals. It's also Johnson and Adkins' most ambitious film to date, as well as maybe their best.
