Storyline

A bioengineering company releases a new product: Mungoes, human beings who have been stripped of all memories, feelings, and free will. They are stoic, docile, perfect for menial labor. The lead engineer, however, has bigger ideas for them, and begins secretly implanting them with artificial memories and emotions—and even the ability to love.

This cold, inert, misguided sci-fi story starts with a peculiar idea that never takes hold and then never really moves; it's mostly dull talk about the supposed meaning of it all.

Jay Craven's Wetware proves he has the bona fides to be recognized as a commercially-viable filmmaker with gravitas.

Ultimately, the many compelling plot strands in Wetware don't quite cohere.
