Storyline

Former Irish Republican Army member Niall Hennessy lives in Belfast, Ireland, with his wife and daughter amid the ongoing Irish-British conflict. Though he still knows people in the IRA, including fugitive leader Tobin, Niall has given up his violent ways. One day his family is caught in a chaotic street shootout and killed by British forces. Overwhelmed with rage and hunted by a Scotland Yard inspector, Niall heads to London to exact his deadly revenge.

C

RTThe Age (Australia)Oct 8, 2025

Two-thirds of the film are a rather dull warm-up.

R

Roger Ebert

RTChicago Sun-TimesOct 23, 2004

This is a movie about a man snatching failure out of the jaws of the deus ex machina.

F

Frances Taylor

RTNewhouse News ServiceFeb 26, 2025

Lots of excitement is built into the story but the movie comes close to failing because it uses stock characters and dialogue that seems to be mouthed and pieces from old movies that actually dealt with the rebellions.

R

Ruth Batchelor

RTLos Angeles Free PressNov 26, 2019

The plot is imaginative, it's Britishly well-directed, and the tension does build.
