While [Tokyo Ghoul S] never shies away from its own stomach-churning visuals, Ken is too milquetoast and Shu too histrionic for their dinner date to ever leave you satisfied.

There are plenty of good bit in this film but it's the slow pacing, needless fluff and overall messiness of the film (not just where gore is concerned) that lets it down.

Tokyo Ghoul S pales in comparison to the first instalment but is still a solid sequel that is entertaining and well directed.

All of the unneeded side stories clutter the otherwise fun film, but fans of Tokyo Ghoul will still leave theaters impressed. This sequel proves the series' live-action ventures are its best adaptations to date.
