Storyline

Missionary John H. Groberg returns to Tonga in the 1960s with his wife and their five young daughters. When their sixth child is born with a serious illness, the Grobergs face their ultimate test of faith, only to find themselves surrounded by the love and prayers of thousands of Tongans. Barriers of inter religious strife are soon broken down as all unite in hopes of a miracle that will save the baby's life, as well as the life of a Tongan minister's son.

J

RTVarietyJun 29, 2019

A blandly sincere and sluggishly paced drama about a Mormon missionary's return to the South Pacific.

RTRogerEbert.comJun 28, 2019

Everything is so extreme here-the storms, the score, the pouring of emotions-that a moment of subtlety is welcome by comparison.

RTCommon Sense MediaJul 23, 2019

Sentimental biopic about LDS missionary's time in Tonga.

J

Josh Terry

RTDeseret News (Salt Lake City)Jul 1, 2019

The cumulative effect elevates "Fire of Faith" beyond what initially feels like a simple series of adventures in the islands, and leaves audiences with a much more thoughtful examination of its subject.
