Some reviewers have criticized the film for being too Disney-esque. I'm not sure why that's a bad thing--but I'll grant you that the movie feels comfortably familiar.

The acclaimed animator behind such powerful figures as Ariel, Aladdin, Tarzan and Rapunzel has a new heroine and she's going further than any of his creations - the moon.

Over the Moon's emotional journey is solid and well-expressed. Again, it draws on calculated iconography... But Fei Fei's emotional journey is a universal story about feeling pain and learning to move on.

It is a universal story of loss and grief that everyone is familiar with, the importance of finding new love, and accepting loss. It is undoubtedly beautiful and emotionally driven.
