An uncommonly effective film that is smart and provocative in addition to being all kinds of creepy.

[T]his handsome and atmospheric production is good, sometimes grisly fun that's not terribly scary, particularly once hectic climactic events prove less suspenseful than the slow-burn buildup.

A clumsy bit of black magic horror only book-ended by freaky greatness.

We've got unspeakable curses, some wayang shadow puppetry that is essential to the plot...sins of the family, baroque gore, ghost children, a little bit of Oldboy, some folk horror and a magnificent central performance from Basro.
