Escalante’s storytelling vigour and his way with an unsettling image keep this film’s voltage high.

For a director who, in films like Heli and The Untamed, has kept our eyes wide open with sadism, sex and truly weird sci-fi, Lost in the Night marks a disappointingly conventional swerve.

Gets tangled up in clever plotting and dramatic hyperbole.

"What Escalante does very well is articulate a critique of the art world and the elite that consumes it, that art that purports to speak for the "voiceless" while remaining a vehicle for self-aggrandizement." [Full review in Spanish]
