The writers of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar clearly didn’t get the memo on brevity being the soul of wit: the film drags on for two hours before it comes to the last twenty minutes, which is when the pace picks up.

With its terrible script, nauseating dialogues, and so-called "couplets" of poetry that would make anyone's ears bleed, this Indian romcom is a mess of a film.

Even as a strictly frothy rom-com, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar remains furthest from being convincing. It expects us to buy into a romance where the two lovers, supposedly inseparable, cannot recognise each other’s voices over the phone.

In Luv Ranjan’s film, everyone talks endlessly, but nobody communicates.
