Featuring Belmondo in a ridiculous plot, donning a mop of a hair-do we'd next see styled on Crispin Glover's version of Willard, the film feels very much like de Broca's move to create a completely innocuous film.

The breakneck pace becomes wearying, though, as the action rarely pauses long enough for the characters or the audience to catch their breath.

The stunts in this film are less James Bond and more Buster Keaton: there are several action sequences ... that are as silly as that silent master's.
