Sarnoski deserves credit for audacity, using the promise of a generic Cage actioner to sneak in what proves to be a contemplative, lyrical film about solitude, self-sufficiency and the real value of taste.

Nicolas Cage's beloved truffle pig is kidnapped in this meditation on loss.

If you have an open mind, you will be rewarded with a melancholic and poignant story, and a superb, triumphant performance from Cage who has no trouble reminding audiences that he is an Oscar winner capable of incredible range and depth.

Pig is a mess. A retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, it’s clear that the director’s influences include the recent work of Yorgos Lanthimos. The result is ludicrously pretentious.
