Critics consensus

“Hocus Pocus 2 is basically a boiling cauldron of nostalgia, but that's just enough for this belated sequel to cast a reasonably effective spell.”

As soon as the trio turn up, Hocus Pocus 2 immediately becomes compelling and enjoyable.

Hocus Pocus 2 really is cute (enough). If you’re in the right mood, it’s maybe even good.

The film wears its ridiculousness so proudly, it’s impossible to disdain. It is both a diverting watch and a sly commentary on its predecessor’s strengths.

The rest of the movie is a fun, carefree romp through our collective nostalgia, and while it doesn’t say anything new or bring in big surprises, it’s certainly a fine choice for a popcorn flick.
