If you're wondering how the iconoclastic Dupontel would incorporate [his characters] into a comedy, drama, satire or farce, therein lies the issue: Bye Bye Morons tries to be all four of those genres at once, often to its detriment.

It's amiable enough, but this broad French comedy is not distinctive enough for the arthouse crowd, and too Gallic for the mainstream.

Any excitement drops off after the first act and Mad Libs can help you predict the ending.

For all its dazzling production design and spirited buffoonery, the film is achingly unfunny.
