On screen, it’s plush and immersive enough that you can almost forget the weak story and enjoy Josee as a Covid-era travelogue.

Heartfelt, unthreatening and rather lovely.

Sumptuously animated and more optimistic than the source material because it is aimed at a broader audience, this version of Josee definitely swims in its own direction.

Gentle and empathetic, this Japanese animation celebrates friendship and the joys of encouraging others.
