The Scottish Play

A New England theatre troupe is about to stage Macbeth. But they will rewrite it. The masterpiece. And so, their troubles begin. Fun oddity, well written and produced; you have to admire it for taking such a literary risk

The careful and deliberate mismatch of genres seems to work rather well in the end. Although it may get a bit heavy for those less interested in centuries old theatre, those who love it will embrace it wholeheartedly.

This film is a tremendous example of the fluid nature of creativity as it applies to performance arts. There have been many adaptations of “Macbeth” set in modern times, and most are quite good, offering a testament to its universal staying power.

Theater buffs and devotees of Shakespeare will embrace this small and delightful feature. Trust me when I say that his “Scottish Play” is no tragedy.
