Dhanush's Asuran wasn't a work of art and neither is Venkatesh-starrer Narappa. It is, however, bold and honest and will always remain hard-hitting, powerful and timely.

Narappa is familiar territory for those who have seen Asuran. It might not be as smooth as the original due to some of the performances by the supporting cast, but it manages to get the message across loud and clear.

Narappa works even if you’ve seen Asuran because the core is so powerful.

Stepping out of his comfort zone, Venkatesh pitches in a sincere portrayal as a man doing his best to protect his family.
