Henaine’s film is indeed more frightening in what it’s implying than what it is showing, and that makes it all the more effective.

What this twisted portrait of crumbling personhood lacks in earnest emotions it more than makes up for with a body horror that’s frequently subtle in execution but always brutal in conceit.

While it’s gorgeously shot, Henaine doesn’t allow for a lot of hope. His protagonist thinks he can find a way out of his downward spiral. We know that’s unlikely to happen.

Disappear Completely is a tightrope walker navigating the precarious divide between tradition and modernity, each step a delicate dance between ancient wisdom and contemporary doubt.
