The film is in fact a supremely confident genre dice and splice from the Boukhermas: a social realist body-horror black comedy with elements of coming-of-age drama.

Those expecting a more intense creature feature aren't going to find much to savor here, as the film sticks with capable low-budget imagery and a growing sense of unease before it gets around to more direct horrors.

A well thought through subversion of the usual werewolf movie, Teddy presents some ingenious ideas and offers proof that an old dog can learn new tricks.

'Teddy' is a defanged werewolf tale that tries to combine coming-of-age angst with quirky comedy and a horror story in there somewhere, none of which shine particularly bright.
