This is a subtle, modulated portrait of someone who gives little away.

Revisiting Anelka's career makes for a strangely watchable documentary, and is a reminder of just how nomadic and mired in controversy his life in football actually was.

Anelka: Misunderstood has a fine balance on the man himself, while also including nostalgic footage of great footballing moments.
