These days it’s cool to be different, and with little to distinguish it from other YA movies, “Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between” hardly stands out from the crowd.

In the movie’s early nod to the director John Hughes, “Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between” set a high bar, one it has the talent but not the boldness to clear.

Even though this doesn’t condescend to its targeted teen audience, it fails to surmount basic issues dealing with narrative credulity and the outcome’s predictability.

Aside from dialling down the conflict from the book, the film adaptation of Jennifer E. Smith's romantic book is easy breezy. Featuring two likeable leads and a solid supporting cast, this is a completely pleasant YA rom-com.
