Critics consensus

“Its dramatic form may get a little wobbly during certain reps, but Jonathan Majors' incredibly committed performance makes Magazine Dreams well worth a watch.”

Majors plays the central character, Killian Maddox, with subtlety and sensitivity.

Magazine Dreams itself, though flawed by a cumbersome flashback structure in which he is talking to a counsellor, has powerful moments and Majors is very good.

I'm watching it thinking "any one of these [storylines] is a movie, but all of these things together is a mess."

Whatever you think of [Jonathan] Majors as a person, Magazine Dreams is a powerful testament to his raw talent as an actor.
