[A] meticulously detailed thriller...

... A film that believes in the corrective power of news media (the BBC World Service is praised). But it’s also occasionally flushed with its own importance, and is easily 20 minutes too long.

In the end, this film is never uninteresting but fails to gather enough pace or power for the slog of the marathon, 160-minute running time.

If Matuszyński’s film tends towards soap opera in places and could definitely do with a trim here and there, its long running time does allow the grind of what happens to play out in ways that emphasise the sheer slog of it.
