Net net, Sam Bahadur pans out like a series of snapshots where information is handed out to us, much more tell than show. The writing is flat even when it tries to amp up the excitement.

Whether he’s standing up to politicians, boxing a rival or charming his future wife, the guy can do no wrong, and the charming Vicky Kaushal is well-cast in the role.

Moves from one incident to another without giving us enough context or the time to soak in the enormity and emotion of what just happened.

It’s the least interesting way to make a biopic, and no amount of showboating by Kaushal is able to elevate the movie into something more engaging.
