The affection ... for af Klint and for creating art shines through.

In a Q&A after a recent screening, Olin admitted that they only learned about the painter a couple years before making this film. It shows.

The new film is sensitive to and respectful of its subject... and does honor to Af Klint and her mad visions.

Instead, Hallström (“My Life as a Dog”) shows her through contemporary doubters’ eyes as a grief-stricken madwoman, making what could have been a richer delve dull and pedantic.
