Despite the off-putting blandness of its poster, soundtrack, and set-up, About Fate proves surprisingly charming.

It would all be pretty boilerplate, but Mann’s anchoring appeal — his lean into Griffin’s modesty and decency — saves the movie from a sorrier fate.

The women are nuts, the men are clueless and the production is so cheap you could pass the time spotting every mistake no one bothered to fix.

For a romantic comedy, About Fate is about as generic a title as they come, and it certainly matches the film that follows, a predictable slice of milquetoast pap that would feel snug at home on any basic cable network or streaming service.
