This comprehensive and kinetic biography of Formula One great Michael Schumacher is an impressive piece of work, but the man himself remains a contradiction.

The film is a collaboration with the Schumachers and massively benefits from their archive of photos and home movies. The downside is that it has the blandness of authorised biography.

A mostly hagiographic look at an undeniably dazzling career.

The documentary doesn’t shy away from Schumacher’s accident, which is treated sensitively and with respect. The inclusion and approval of his family adds a whole different level to the film, filling it with warmth and love.
