It evidently cant decide whether the film should be sincere as its endearing leads play it or preposterous

The movie’s aggressive hipness can be a turnoff at times. But once it settles down into a more typical coming-of-age story, “Crush” becomes disarmingly sweet and relatable.

What’s jarring in Crush is the absence of some requisite dose of youthful mischief, a sense of stakes and perhaps even a lightly scandalous touch.

Crush has fully-fleshed out characters who are queer, but are also so much more... They’re trying to realise their dreams. All this is wrapped into one neat, cute, and funny story that will leave you feeling optimistic about the world we live in.
